The Tokyo Summary Court has fined a Japanese man 200,000 yen for launching a blog linked to child prostitution in Laos using false identification.
The Tokyo District Public Prosecutors Office on Tuesday indicted the man, identified as Hiroshi Kida, a 61-year-old resident of Kawachinagano, Osaka Prefecture, for unauthorized creation and sharing of private electronic records.
Under a summary indictment, prosecutors can seek a fine through written procedures without holding a formal trial.
According to the indictment, Kida secured a contract with a rental server firm in Japan in October 2022 by providing false information, including a phone number.
The blog contained posts that appeared to recount experiences of child prostitution in the Southeast Asian country, according to the Metropolitan Police Department that arrested Kida last month.
The Japanese Embassy in Laos warned on social media last year of posts suggesting the involvement of Japanese nationals in child prostitution, saying such acts are subject to crackdowns by Lao authorities and punishable under Japanese law.

That is sick. The fine should have been bigger.

It's actually a good job. They could never prove what he did abroad so at least they get him, named, shamed and in the papers on the charge of opening an account under a false name.

It would be good if news sources, such as Japan Today, would stop using the term child prostitution and instead refer to it by what it really is, child trafficking and rape.

Wait no punishment for the content itself? Is this another way to say if that man using valid information for registration for rental server then it will be legal by Japanese law?
