Police in Kyoto have arrested a 31-year-old man on suspicion of breaking into a 23-year-old woman’s apartment and sexually assaulting her.

According to police, Daisuke Taniguchi, a food delivery driver, had taken food to the woman’s apartment in Sakyo Ward on two occasions, Sankei Shimbun reported. Police said he is accused of breaking into the apartment between 3 a.m. and 7:45 a.m. on Jan 29. He allegedly threatened the woman, saying, "I won't kill you and I don't want your money. Don't call the police," and sexually assaulted her.

The woman suffered injuries that took two weeks to heal.

Police quoted Taniguchi as saying he had been attracted to the woman on the two occasions he delivered food to her.
